Budo for Dignity is a group of intellectually challenged individuals practicing Shotokan Karate in Poland. By regular participation in karate training sessions, organizing self-defense demonstrations and participating in tournaments, the group members fight for the dignity of people with special needs.


The classes provide the athletes with great joy, and above all, strengthen their self-esteem, build positive relationships within the group, relieve emotional tension, teach mutual respect, improve the overall psycho-motor condition and build a positive group atmosphere.
Budo for Dignity's main goals:
- Correct posture and help the participants improve their motor skills.
- Develop character according to the budo values. They focus on humility and respect, self-control, focus and concentration of the mind, self-development, overcoming fear and learning self-discipline.


Budo for Dignity was established in September 2009 in Poland.
It began with a group of eight participants doing daily gymnastic training using elements of traditional karate. With time, the exercises entailed more and more karate elements, eventually taking on the form of systematic and regular training sessions.


In January 2010, a training program was launched through the Polish Federation of Traditional Karate.
